Creepy villains who can make you see what they want you to see, supportive friends, friends with mysterious motives, and a whole bunch of bullies to make your blood boil. Of course with any great book, you don’t just need a good lead, you need a whole cast of wonderful characters and there are spade loads on offer here. The relentless way she pursued the truth of what had happened to Quinton was awesome to see, I just thought she was wonderful, if a little reckless at times! Her love for her brother was just adorable, and its always so nice to read about siblings who are close like that, as so often they can be portrayed as being at war with each other.

Her own experiences no doubt helped her see past the fact that her new roommate was a weredragon, but it was nice none the less to see how quickly she just accepted it, and is a good lesson for all to see past differences (even if there’s a potential you may wake up next to a dragon!). With an evil magician threatening the whole supernatural world, and her own classmates thinking she is the enemy, Amari has never felt more alone. But first she has to get her head around the new world of the Bureau, where mermaids, aliens and magicians are real, and her roommate is a weredragon.Īmari must compete against kids who’ve known about the supernatural world their whole lives, and when each trainee is awarded a special supernatural talent, Amari is given an illegal talent – one that the Bureau views as dangerous. So when Amari gets an invitation to the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs, she’s certain this is her chance to find Quinton. Her big brother Quinton has gone missing.
